ASTRI established the ConTech and PropTech Alliance on 8 July to foster industry development by adopting advanced technologies and solutions that enhance construction efficiency, quality and safety. Ms Winnie Ho, Secretary for Housing of the HKSAR Government, officiated the event alongside ASTRI’s Chairman Ir Sunny Lee, and CEO, Dr Denis Yip. The event drew more than 500 attendees, showcasing the industry's strong interest and support for this initiative. Ms Ho said that ASTRI’s ConTech and PropTech Alliance, brings together representatives from universities, research institutes and the industry, fostering innovation and collaboration among these sectors, and encouraging industry upgrades and transformation through cutting-edge technology integration. |

 | ASTRI CELEBRATES SMTA'S FIRST ANNIVERSARY | ASTRI unveiled Hong Kong’s first in-depth study on the development of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) at the first anniversary of Smart Mobility Technology (C-V2X) Alliance. In addition, ASTRI is preparing to conduct road tests and a pilot run of autonomous shuttle buses in the West Kowloon Cultural District, from M+ to Hong Kong Palace Museum. In his address, Mr Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the HKSAR Government highlighted the government’s commitment to integrating innovation in transportation. “The Government has paved the way for wider and more flexible trials and application of autonomous vehicles in Hong Kong by introducing a new regulatory regime for trial and use of autonomous vehicles”. | |

|  | ASTRI SHOWCASES SMART CITY TECHNOLOGIES AT INNOEX 2024 | The centrepiece of ASTRI’s display at InnoEX was the vision of a future smart city, featuring trailblazing technologies in Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) and autonomous driving. Visitors experienced the enhanced safety and convenience that smart mobility brings through an interactive virtual autonomous driving game. The showcase also highlighted other remarkable technologies, such as digital twin robotic arms, MetaBrain – a digital platform designed for managing extreme weather conditions – and generative artificial intelligence. Together, these innovations created a comprehensive narrative of the smart city, spanning new industrialisation, digital urban governance, and creative expression, setting the stage for future developments. | |

|  | ASTRI'S PRESENCE AT “LONDON TECH WEEK” | ASTRI team visited the UK to participate in “London Tech Week” in June. During the “Investor Breakfast - Scaling in Hong Kong and Beyond” seminar, organised by InvestHK, Ms Jamie Cheng, our Senior Director of Ecosystem, University Technology Transfer and Marketing, introduced ASTRI’s innovative technologies and application areas to industry leaders from around the world. Our team also explored London’s thriving technology ecosystem and held in-depth discussions with experts from renowned institutions and companies. This technology tour has deepened our understanding of London's innovation landscape and strengthened ASTRI's global connections. | |

ASTRI collaborated with the Immigration Department of the HKSAR Government for the first time to promote the utilisation of innovative technologies aimed at providing top quality and efficient public services. Witnessed by Ir Sunny Lee, Chairman of ASTRI and Mr Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Security, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr Denis Yip, Chief Executive Officer of ASTRI and Mr Benson Kwok, Director of Immigration on 30 April. | |

A RECORD OF OVER 110 SUMMER INTERNS ONBOARD |

| With more than 3,000 applications received, 110 interns from renowned universities in Hong Kong and overseas have been selected to participate in an eight-week innovation and technology (I&T) experience through ASTRI’s “Summer Internship Programme” and “FinTech Future Leader Academy”. Under the mentorship of experienced supervisors, interns contribute to significant R&D projects and engage in I&T ecosystem development, applying their theoretical knowledge to commercially viable technologies and gaining practical experience in project development and technology transfer. | |

A total of 70 secondary school students who have joined the third edition of "Innopreneur Experience Journey" visited ASTRI on 12 July. The programme was co-organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) and Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). Our Senior Director of Ecosystem, University Technology Transfer and Marketing, Ms Jamie Cheng, along with our R&D team, greeted the young minds and gave them an exclusive glimpse into our cutting-edge homegrown technologies. They also got the chance to learn about the latest development Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem. We hope this inspiring experience spark their interest in I&T, helping them make informed decisions for their future education and career planning. | |

ASTRI I&T ACHIEVEMENTS SHINE IN INTERNATIONAL ARENA | ASTRI secured 23 accolades at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, including a prestigious "Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury", six gold medals, along with ten silver medals and six bronze medals. ASTRI SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS WITH OUTSTANDING CLIENT SATISFACTION SCORES | ASTRI has achieved a client satisfaction score of 95.7% in 2023/24. Our net promoter score also saw an encouraging rise, jumping from 48 to 57! These impressive results stem from our research team’s commitment to delivering projects on time, on purpose, and to the highest standards. We are proud to learn that our projects have added value and provided positive impacts to our clients. As a result, an outstanding 97.9% of respondents expressed their willingness to partner with ASTRI again in the future.

| ASTRI TOPS HONG KONG'S LIST WITH 20 US PATENTS GRANTED IN 2023 | The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) has announced the “Top 60 Non-profit Institutions and Government Agencies Granted US Utility Patents in 2023”. Ranked 42nd globally, ASTRI was granted 20 US patents last year, placing it ahead of other Hong Kong R&D institutions. NAI, comprising members from universities, governmental bodies, and non-governmental organisations around the world, aims to empowers inventors to leverage their creations for the betterment of society. | |
