Our Chief Technological Director Was Invited As A Speaker At The IEEE Region 10 Conference #TENCON

The flagship technology event, the IEEE Region 10 Conference (#TENCON), jointly organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the IEEE Hong Kong Section, is in full swing at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. All technical fields related to AI, health tech, smart tech, fintech, Ed tech, nanophotonics, optical metamaterials, quantum, etc. have attracted many interdisciplinary professionals, scholars, industry leaders, researchers, and students to participate.

This morning, our Chief Technological Director, Dr. Lucas Hui Lucas Chi-Kwong Hui, was invited to attend as a speaker which is located on the topic of how applied research can help society in the past, present, and future. It covered the purpose and mission of ASTRI and talked about the main visions of ASTRI. Four technology R&D areas, including AI and trusted technology, communication technology, IoT sensing and intelligent analytic technology, and power and IC technologies. In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Gao Ziyang, Deputy Senior Director of ASTRI, also accepted the invitation for a panel discussion on the topic of enabling and commercialising the semiconductor industry.

At the same venue, we showcased one of the public’s favourite scientific research achievements – a 5G cloud robot. With ASTRI’s Easy-5G solution, machines can communicate with high-bandwidth and ultra-reliable low-latency technology, equipped with multi-sensor fusion perception and positioning, and can be applied in dynamic and complex industrial environments. The tolerance of accuracy reaches centimetres level, which can assist enterprises in various special processing. For example, the logistic centre can use a 5G robot to place goods in the correct position on the shelf, reducing the chance of errors and saving resources.
