ASTRI joins Wind River Titanium Cloud NFV Ecosystem

[14 October 2014, Hong Kong] Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) announced today (14 October) their participation in the Wind River Titanium Cloud NFV partner program.

Joining the program allows ASTRI to accelerate the delivery of its virtualized 4G core network functions, optimized for Wind River Titanium Server, to telecom service providers. These functions include LTE Evolved Packet Core, LTE Small Cell Gateway, Security Gateway, WiFi Access Controller, LTE/WiFi Convergence Gateway, and HeMS – Small Cell Management System.

“This is a significant stride for ASTRI in its 4G & Beyond development roadmap,” said Dr Justin Chuang, ASTRI’s Vice President and Group Director, Communications Technologies Group. “As a member of the Wind River NFV ecosystem, we will be able to get to market faster to provide our customers with a cloud based 4G & Beyond core network gateway running on a carrier grade platform.”

Wind River Titanium Server is an application-ready software platform that enables Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) infrastructure to achieve the carrier grade or six-nines (99.9999%) reliability required for telecom networks. Wind River is a world leader in delivering software for intelligent connected systems.

“Service providers see compelling value in proven end-to-end NFV solutions that comprise interoperable products,” said Charlie Ashton, Senior Director of Business Development for Networking Solutions at Wind River. “Through the Titanium Cloud program, we are working across the ecosystem with leaders like ASTRI to ensure the availability of validated, interoperable hardware and software that supports Wind River Titanium Server. This accelerates time-to-market for service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers deploying NFV infrastructure.”

Covering a broad spectrum of 4G core network gateway software, ASTRI can fully demonstrate the flexibility and advantages of NFV. Leveraging the Titanium Cloud ecosystem, system integrators can work seamlessly with complete NFV solutions, such as network function, cloud platform and hardware, that meet the high reliability and performance required by telecom operators, who require truly flexible, high-performance and robust virtualization environments. Collaboration across the ecosystem will enable them to create additional value and grow the competitive advantage of their telecommunication products.
