Energy storage is a key technology to promote energy utilization towards green and low-carbon transformations. In order to enable the large-scale access of renewable energies and to improve the safety of energy storage systems, it is urgent to explore advanced energy storage solutions. Electrochemical energy storage technology is currently one of the mainstream approaches, it is expected that the market value of global electrochemical energy storage will reach ~$109 billion by 2025. Sodium-based energy technology has great potential for energy storage application due to its low cost and high safety features. This project aims to developing advanced energy storage module (AESM) for storage station application, including: 1) artificial intelligence (AI) based state of health (SOH) prediction model; 2) smart hybrid balancing strategy; 3) efficient thermal control design. Based on the established model and methodology, 48V energy storage prototype would be fabricated for function verification and universality evaluation. The proposed solutions could promote the development of electrochemical energy storage technology and facilitate the large-scale utilization of renewable energies, which is of great strategic significance for achieving carbon neutrality.
