This project aims to conduct study of the fusion of the sensor(s) (e.g., lidar/camera/ Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)) and 5G positioning technologies. This study will include following activities: 1. Building an autonomous mobile robot prototype. It mainly consists of (i) mobile robot chassis, (ii) an on-board mini-computer, (iii) camera, (iv) Lidar, (v) Inertial measurement unit 2. 5G Positioning simulation. 3. Software modules development, including: 3.1. Lidar Simultaneous Localization and Mapping. 3.2. Sensor Perception module. 3.3. Sensor Positioning module. 3.4. Fusion module. 4. Report of fusion of 5G positioning with sensor positioning. It would include the performance of positioning errors at the percentiles of 90%. Target specification: position error with 10%~20% reduction in different scenarios with 5G and sensors fusions. This project will support Hong Kong local industry's digital transformation. It will realize commercialization through eco-system partners in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area, and mainland China. It will maintain tech leadership for extended impact for ASTRI's 5G portfolio. Benefits can be achieved for Industry 4.0, Smart City and Smart Logistics use cases by providing positioning and communication service with one 5G network.
