  • Dr. Duncan Wong, Vice President, Financial Technologies of ASTRI was invited to speak on the topic “Regtech – HK Government Research & Development on Regtech and Fintech” in SFC Regtech and Fintech Contact Day held on 7 November 2016 at the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

    The event was hosted by the SFC and featured presentations by regulators, academics, and regulatory bodies and financial technology providers on a range of topics related to regulatory and financial technologies.

  • Dr. Yu Tao, Director, Big Data Analytics of ASTRI attended the 4th China (Guangzhou) International Smart City Development Forum cum Big Data Analytics’ Applications in Cloud Computing Assembly on 7 November 2016 at Chimelong Hotel, Guangzhou. She gave a speech on Hong Kong Smart Transport as a case study of the applications of big data analytics in smart city.

    ASTRI showcases Smart Parking System at Smart City Week – Smart City Exhibition

  • ASTRI is invited to participate in the Smart City Week – Smart City Exhibition held from 7 to 11 November 2016 at Energizing Kowloon East Office (EKEO).

    To support the HKSAR Government strategy in transforming Hong Kong into a Smart City, ASTRI has been working with the Energizing Kowloon East Office (EKEO) and Lands Department to develop the Smart Parking System to collect the carpark information including real-time parking vacancy data so as to facilitate drivers to find vacant parking spaces in this area. The mobile app of this system provides analysis function of the shortest driving route and real time traffic information, enabling drivers to reach the entrance of available carpark which help to reduce traffic congestion and pollution. The system will be piloted in the carparks in Kowloon East and is being displayed at the exhibition.

    Organised by EKEO, the exhibition belongs to stage 1 public engagement of feasibility study for developing Kowloon East into a smart city district. The event aims to collect views from the public on the proposed framework and advocacy statement. It also solicits ideas for Proof of Concept (PoC) trails and planning of future smart city proposals.

    ASTRI hosts seminar on operation of venture capital

  • ASTRI was honoured to have the presence of Mr. Ian Wong, Chairman of EXCEL Capital Strategy and Chairman of Co-operatives of Innovative Intellectuals (a charity organization) as a guest speaker at the seminar “Reading the Investors’ Agenda Through the Term Sheet” held on 7 Nov 2016. At the seminar, Mr. Wong explained to engineers how venture capital operates and how to find out some of their hidden agenda. This talk was particularly useful to engineers who are considering to have their own technology startup.

    ASTRI participates in the 20th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium and signs a collaboration agreement with Talent Exchange Centre of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission

  • The 20th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium was held on 3 November 2016 in Beijing. Mr. YK Lee, Senior Director, IC Design Digital attended the symposium on behalf of ASTRI. ASTRI signed a collaboration agreement with Talent Exchange Centre of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission during the Centre’s special session. The organisations will explore further collaboration opportunities in the areas of research and development and exchange of talents.

    Furthermore, ASTRI was invited to join a round table meeting with entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and Beijing, and exchanged views with representatives from governments and corporations of both cities.

  • Mr. Sung Chang Hoon, Consul for Finance & Economy and Mr. Park Joon-seok, Senior Researcher of Consulate General of the Republic of Korea visited the Institute on 2 November and met with Dr. Meikei Ieong, Chief Technology Officer for an in-depth discussion. ASTRI’s R&D experts showed them some latest technologies such as facial recognition, Blockchain, Cyber Range Laboratory and Next Generation Network Laboratory.

    ASTRI showcases its latest wireless, augmented reality (AR) and system automaton technologies at HKIA Technovation Conference & Exhibition 2016

  • ASTRI was invited to participate in the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Technovation Conference and Exhibition 2016 held on 2 November 2016 at Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong.

    “Smart Airport – Robotics Applications” was the theme of this event, focusing on robotic applications for the enhancement of operational efficiency at HKIA. At the exhibition, ASTRI showcased a number of latest technologies on wireless, augmented reality (AR) and system automaton, including random bin picking for industrial robot, cyber-physical-systems, private LTE network, dual eyes see through display, head-up display, and glass-free 3D display.

    HKIA is one of ASTRI’s collaborative partners. ASTRI signed an agreement to establish the “ASTRI-HKIA Joint Research and Development Centre for Smart Airport” in July this year, focusing on the research technologies that could help transform HKIA into a smart airport, and Hong Kong into a smart city.

    Organised by HKIA, the event aims to offer a platform to engage the airport community with the latest automation technologies and potential solutions to improve both work processes and the passenger experience. Around 750 participants from the aviation sector, technology sectors, universities and research institutes attended the event.
