ASTRI’s Chairman Mr. Wong Ming-yam, BBS, JP and CEO Dr. Frank Tong were invited to attend the HK IT Sector Gala Dinner in Celebration of the 67th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 12 September. The dinner was well attended by hundreds of representatives from the IT sector. It provided a good platform for Hong Kong’s IT professionals to strengthen communication and unity amongst Hong Kong’s IT professionals. Chairman Wong was invited on stage to take a group photo with other guests of honour.

ASTRI’s CTO Dr. Meikei Ieong was invited to attend the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Annual Conference 2016 held on 10 September 2016 at JW Marriott Hong Kong. The theme of the conference was “Kowloon East – Building Our Future Model City”. Dr. Ieong delivered a presentation and introduced ASTRI’s major initiatives and efforts in enabling a Smart City.

ASTRI’s Vice-President, Financial Technologies Dr. Duncan Wong was invited to attend Hong Kong Network Operations’ Group 3.0 (HKNOG 3.0) held on 9 September 2016 at Admiralty Conference Centre. Dr. Wong was one of the guest speakers and delivered a presentation titled “Ransomware: The Most Profitable Malware”.

Two teams of ASTRI Innovation Runway (AIR) are taking a quantum leap in starting up their businesses. Team RECIPIO that invented a digital receipts management platform, has won a $100,000 seed fund in the HKU DreamCatchers 100K competition, and one-year co-working space from Ooosh. Team eScooter has entered the Top 10 of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hongkong Innovative Start-Ups Competition.

ASTRI shares R&D expertise at Machine Vision Innovation Technology and Application Seminar 2016
ASTRI and China International Optoelectronic Conference (CIOEC) Office jointly organised the Machine Vision Innovation Technology and Application Seminar 2016 on 7 September at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center, Shenzhen, China.
At the seminar, ASTRI’s Director of Manufacturing Technologies Dr. Chen-Jung Tsai and Senior Manager Ms. Anna Liu were the moderators for the discussion sessions. In addition, ASTRI’s R&D experts Dr. Wilman Zou and Dr. XueYan Tang delivered presentations of “Application of Machine Vision in Surface Inspection” and “Research and Development of 3D Machine Vision Technology and its application” to introduce ASTRI’s R&D and latest technologies.
