Delegates from Standard Chartered Bank visited ASTRI on 1 September 2016. Apart from engaging in fruitful discussion with the senior management of ASTRI including CEO Dr. Frank Tong, Vice President (Financial Technologies) Dr. Duncan Wong etc., the delegates also toured around ASTRI Security Lab and Cyber Range Lab, and viewed a number of demonstrations of ASTRI’s technologies.
ASTRI’s Manager, Opto-electronics Dr. William Zou is invited to be one of the guest speakers at the IndustryConnect@Science Park – Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) to be held on 29 September 2016 at Hong Kong Science Park. The theme of the activity is Industry 4.0 – Digitalization and Automation. Dr. Zou will deliver a presentation to introduce the machine vision technologies in ASTRI.

The inaugural cyber security training course was conducted today at ASTRI’s Cyber Range Laboratory opened a month ago. The 4-day training course from 30 August to 2 September is well-structured to provide comprehensive and professional cyber security training to participants from the Hong Kong Police Force.
ASTRI’s CEO Dr. Frank Tong said, “The Cyber Range Laboratory is equipped with advanced cyber attack and defence training management systems, as well as systems that can simulate tens of thousands of cyber attacks and hundreds of thousands of malicious software samples. This is the first time training of this nature is made available for cyber security practitioners.”

ASTRI’s CEO Dr. Frank Tong was invited to share his insights at the AI Industry Development and Application Seminar organised by Bank of China (Hong Kong) today. The Forum brought together experts from China and Hong Kong including Mr. Xie Shaofeng, Director General, Department of Information and Software Service, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Prof. Lv Weifeng, Head of School of Computer Science and Engineering, BeiHang University, to name but a few to share views on issues related to the development and application of AI in financial industries.

[Hong Kong, 29 August 2016] Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) and Accoresys (Shanghai) Company Limited (Accoresys) announced today the establishment of the ASTRI-Accoresys Visual Intelligence Joint Laboratory in Shanghai, China, focusing on the research and development of visual intelligence.
ASTRI’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Frank Tong and Accoresys’s Chairman and General Manager Mr. Huang Feng officiated at the signing ceremony and signed the collaboration agreement. Witnesses of the ceremony included the Vice-President of Huawei Technologies Mr. Steve Chu, President of Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT) Mr. Yang Xiao, Dean of School of Management Shanghai University Mr. You Jianxin, Mr. Wang Zhanhui of Zhangjiang Group, R&D Director of Accoresys Mr. Yang Xian, ASTRI’s Chief Technology Officer Dr. Meikei Ieong, Senior Director (IC Design Digital) Mr. Y.K. Li, and representatives from Intel, Xilinx, Microsoft, BOSCH, Alibaba, etc.
ASTRI’s CEO Dr. Frank Tong said in his remark, “Accoresys and ASTRI have a solid foundation of collaboration. The establishment of the Joint Laboratory will help promote joint research and development in the areas of artificial intelligence, visual intelligence and other technologies for applications in smart city.”

The establishment of the ASTRI-Accoresys Visual Intelligence Joint Laboratory will strengthen in-depth collaborative research in visual intelligence, foster a professional and strategic partnership in different areas, and set an example for cross-border technology exchange and talent development.
